Setting up an e-commerce store can be daunting, especially if it’s your first go at something like this. Putting yourself out there for the world to see is half the battle. But the other half? It’s a walk in the park if you choose a platform like Shopify. I’ll show you how to create a Shopify store in 24 hours.
There are just 3 steps to create a Shopify store in one day.
1. Set Up Your Domain
Register a domain name with a dependable web hosting service. I recommend Site Ground because they’ve got an affordable plan, 24/7 live chat customer support and a whole load of other free features we covered in this article below.
Now it’s time to connect your store to your domain. From your Shopify dashboard, choose the Online Store tab, and then click on Domains. This will show you an area to manage your domains. Log into your web hosting site and open your Cpanel. Then follow steps 1-7 in this Shopify support article in order to copy and paste the records into your DNS settings. It’s laid out clearly in this article. Now in your Shopify Domains tab, you can verify your domain connection.
2. Set Up Payment Options
The very next thing you want to do with your store is make sure you can accept payments when you launch. It’s up to you to decide which payment methods you want to offer your customers. The options are credit card, (called Shopify Payments, available only for United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia), PayPal, Apple Pay, and third party providers. The two main forms of payment you can set up right away are Shopify Payments and PayPal. Most customers will pay with either of these two options.
Go to the Settings tab on the bottom left of your Shopify dashboard and continue to Payments. You’ll see that the first two options on that page are to set up Shopify Payments and PayPal. The app guides you through this process step by step. If you need more help with setting up payments, you can find it in this Shopify support article.
3. Customize Your Store
This is the fun part! Make your store match your brand by choosing a theme and colors. To get started, go to the Online Store tab on your Shopify dashboard. Choose Themes, and then pick a theme from the available choices. I like the Pop theme. It’s simple, easy to work with, and very mobile friendly.
Upload your logo to display on any area of the store that you’d like. Play around with sections of your theme by dragging the pieces of content around on the left side of your screen. Add photos of your products and display them in different collections. For better conversion rates, include any customer testimonials that you have.
Helpful tip: make sure you see what the mobile version of your store will look like before putting the final touches on your design.
You are now set up to start selling on Shopify. The customer support team sends onboarding emails for the more advanced steps that you may want to take next. For some inspiration on setting up your store, check out this gallery of beautiful Shopify stores.
